It’s now possible to use software to discover virtually every aspect of your company’s business processes, but it hasn’t always been this way.

Building an understanding of organizational processes was traditionally tedious, expensive, and labor-intensive. Capturing a single business processes meant gathering everyone in a conference room, creating a big, messy diagram complete with sticky notes and arrows, and hours of manual mapping. Multiply by the number of critical processes, and hundreds or even thousands of hours were often wasted on largely unproductive activity.  To make matters worse, process documentation was frequently outdated by the time it was complete.

That’s why we developed Worksoft Analyze® - software that captures every click and keystroke performed by users.  Continuous, automatic capture and visualization of end-to-end processes provides companies with a high fidelity understanding of their business. Where do processes fail? How long does process execution take? Where are the gaps and opportunities for improvement?  Achieving this degree of accuracy and insight is only possible with the latest intelligent automation technology.

Greg Hammond, Vice President of Analytics at Worksoft recently presented a session on how continuous business process discovery and optimization works. There are four primary components:

Discovery: The ability to automatically detect end-to-end workflows across multiple users, departments, and applications.

Visualization: Once you’ve discovered your business process workflows, they are presented to business analysts, executives, partners, and subject matter experts in a way that quickly conveys important information.

Analysis: Identify key human/system/business data points that impact process execution. These are easily overlaid on process diagrams to provide a foundation for optimization and improvement initiatives.

Insight: Generate detailed natural language documentation for training and compliance. Learn how business processes morph and change as new requirements, regulatory constraints, or other changes are introduced. Captured workflows can also be used to generate test automation.
