Platform Enhancements Boost Collaboration Among Developers, Technical Testers and Business Users to Accelerate Packaged Application Projects

LAS VEGAS and DALLAS, Oct. 2, 2018Worksoft®, an SAP partner and leading global provider of automation software for mission-critical enterprise applications, today unveiled new capabilities to better enable Agile-plus-DevOps testing practices for packaged applications. Enhancements to the Worksoft automation platform strengthen collaboration among developers, technical testers and business users to increase quality and accelerate packaged application projects. The announcement was made at SAP TechEd, being held October 2-5, 2018 in Las Vegas, where Worksoft is exhibiting in booth #325.

Automation is critical for Agile development as end-to-end testing must be performed repeatedly and iteratively to ensure quality. Agile methodologies, built upon the SAFe Framework like SAP Activate, are the de facto standard for rolling out modern SAP applications on SAP S/4HANA® and within the SAP® C/4HANA suite. Worksoft test automation supports the dynamic, iterative, and collaborative nature of Agile which enables developers and testers to work in parallel, eliminating QA backlogs.

“Worksoft platform improvements heighten Agile collaboration between the business, QA and development, which is paramount for test creation and the supporting automation,” said Shoeb Javed, chief technology officer, Worksoft. “At the forefront of evolving testing and DevOps to include Agile approaches, Worksoft offers the insurance for assurance teams to make sure their critical business processes work,” he said.

New platform Agile-plus-DevOps testing capabilities include:

Capture 2.0 Improvements

New features in Worksoft Capture 2.0, included with Certify and Analyze, allow users to discover, document, and automate tests for business processes across more technology, effectively broadening the reach of business process discovery. Live Touch, the newest capability in Capture 2.0, extends coverage to more interface extensions including Java and Silverlight. Capture 2.0 enables business and technical users to work in Agile teams to create test automation and accelerate digital transformation projects. Worksoft’s Capture technology accelerates ROI for SAP UI5 applications on SAP S/4HANA, within the SAP® C/4HANA suite and on SAP® SuccessFactors®, as well as for SAP Fiori®-based application deployments.

APIs for Execution Manager

Worksoft Execution Manager gives users the control to schedule and run Worksoft Certify tests at scale across multiple machines simultaneously, enabling continuous testing. Enhancements to Worksoft Execution Manager include more APIs for better integration into the DevOps tool chain and support for Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Testing cycles. New restful APIs allow ALM platforms to interrogate Worksoft Execution Manager, enabling robotic discovery and execution for tests and reports. Those same APIs can be called from one’s DevOps tool chain to further enable testing as part of Agile practices. With Worksoft Execution Manager, automated tests can be executed via almost any ALM or CI solution including Jenkins, Microsoft TFS, SAP Solution Manager 7.2, Micro Focus (HP) ALM and Bamboo, among others.

Worksoft Certify Change Management features

Worksoft Certify 10.1 introduces additional features for managing change, which help deliver automation with greater speed, flexibility and reuse. Previous releases offered the ability to both export Worksoft Certify processes for storage in external repositories and import processes back into Worksoft Certify. The latest features include functions to compare and merge Worksoft Certify processes. While the compare function provides visibility into change -- identifying what is new, deleted or different, the merge function allows users to selectively integrate changes. Together, these capabilities enable users to archive, import and compare existing tests and merge changes. Additionally, users can now more easily modify test plans and share large test libraries across users and projects.

Worksoft was named one of the few superior choices in the market for exclusively addressing packaged application (particularly SAP) testing in The Forrester Wave™: Omnichannel Functional Test Automation Tools, Q3 2018 report. According to the report, “Worksoft’s strategy targets prospects that are adopting a continuous delivery and DevOps approach in concert with packaged apps.” Forrester writes, “Worksoft has excellent integration with more than 150 different types and releases of packaged application platforms,” and notes, “Worksoft aims to be the go-to for DevOps packaged application testing.”

Worksoft’s Agile testing framework, which enables teams to work together seamlessly, ensures that the business has an equal seat at the table alongside IT to deliver optimal business outcomes and minimize risks. Cutting edge health care leaders, like Worksoft customer Cardinal Health, are embracing Agile approaches to automate earlier and expand automation across their organizations. “We had a very ambitious goal to make automation everyone’s job,” said Nikhil Shah, director of software engineering, Cardinal Health. “We wanted to start the journey by embracing the culture of automating early and automating often,” he said.
